PROJECTS

INTRODUCTION

South Africa has been involved in whaling activities for centuries, but sadly, this colourful history has not been well documented.
We believe that the opportunity now exists to correct this omission and make this legacy available to everyone, so that all may enjoy and learn something about our whaling heritage.

The above state of affairs prompted us to do a market survey to try to establish whether there is sufficient interest and support, both from the private and the public sector, for such a project and whether such an undertaking would be financially viable.
Our three year market survey has led us to conclude that there is indeed an overwhelming enthusiasm and interest from the public and that the scope of our research into our whaling heritage should be broadened to capture past and future sagas internationally.

With public interest in whale tourism at an all time high, and ever increasing, we feel the time has come to get this venture underway.

OUR MODEL

At present, the Western Cape has a number of major tourist venues, but none have the breathtaking scope of our intended project, nor do they offer the tourist such an exciting diverse blend of marine education and entertainment under One African Roof.
This combination of public education together with Skills Development in various disciplines to create much needed job opportunities have become the Brainchild of the Team which will make this the most novel and exciting venue for tourists ever visiting the Cape.

While it is true that museums are the best and only place to capture the past and future material aspect of society’s cultural consciousness and necessary, many depends largely on state subsidies to operate. Privately owned museums struggle immensely as well and it takes guts and determination to hang in there. In this regard see Whale Marks Model.

LOOPHOLES FIXED

Whale Marks Model is vastly different and it took us years to determine the loopholes and to plug it. The simple remedy for this is to develop and produce a diverse blend of disciplines to cater for any individual or organisation whether it might be for schools, young or old, tourist, colleges, universities, on governmental organisations and other to enjoy to the core! No organisation has done this before and I do not think it will be done in future as it takes masterful efforts and millions of rand to complete.

PRIDE VERSUS-MEANING/PARTNERSHIPS/JOINT VENTURES/ALLIANCES

The tragic role call of most organizations in this field of operations has not learnt a lesson, and that is you cannot operate alone successfully, and expect to become viable.

Pride, ignorance and closure of participation appears to be the reason for this, but mainly pride, which we all know is the common problem today.

Whale Marks policy is different. We are proactively open to any ideas that makes sense and could benefit both parties provided it complies with meaningful principles. Not in isolation, but in the formation of partnership/joint ventures/alliances surely open the road to reach our destination.
