SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Practical classes for adults & children primarily in Marine Disciplines.
1. Show the way the artist works in open studios viewed through large windows. Visitors are also welcome to meet the artists informally and ask questions about their work and techniques. Appointments can be made if lengthy discussions are required.
2. Artists and craftspeople actively creating their work so that visitors gain real insight into the skills and procedures necessary for fine work.
3. To encourage high standards of skill and creative design.
4. Show as widely as possible the possibilities that exist in each area of discipline.
5. To serve as an inspiration for all, what can be achieved through innovation and persistence.
6. To demonstrate high standards and excellence, and to encourage purchases for local handmade craft.
7. Most of the art and craftwork on show is available from our curio shop and special orders on consignment for tourist organisations can be negotiated with pleasure..
8. A wide range of practical classes is available each day, with adults and children catered for separately. Classes are designed to encourage the novice and each participant learns how to make a finished piece of art or craft for taking home.
9. Whale Mark Art in Action is a not-for-profit event which honours the role of the artist in society. It is organised and staffed mostly from volunteers and selected permanent specialist that will be responsible for education.
